Field and View reclamation
While managing and regenerating forests is one of our primary goals, we also understand the importance of maintaining land in an open, non-forested state. Fields can be desirable from several standpoints. New Hampshire has a long history of agricultural use, as evidenced by the many stone walls criss-crossing the landscape. Reclaiming and maintaining open fields, such as the old apple orchard in the photo below, helps to preserve and honor our cultural history for generations to come. Open fields also make great wildlife habitat for species such as insect-eating songbirds, ground-nesting birds, and large mammals such as deer, bear and moose. Thirdly, maintaining open space can also help the landowner enjoy their land by providing views of the picturesque New Hampshire landscape.
